Nick Walsh

I was raised in Northern Virginia, just outside our nation’s capital. It was there that I met my wonderful wife, Sandi, in Springfield, Virginia, where we lived and worked before purchasing our first home. During that time, I also served on the Board of Directors for our community association.

After our children were born, Sandi and I chose to move to Huntersville in 1993 — believing it would be the ideal place to raise a family. For the past 32 years, Huntersville has been our home. We lived in the Wynfield neighborhood for nearly 20 years, where I served on the HOA board for three years, the last two as President. More recently, after our children started their own careers, we moved to the Vermillion community, where we now enjoy being within walking distance of downtown Huntersville.

Huntersville has so much to offer, but I believe we need leaders who will always put our residents and our town first. My goal is to continue creating an environment where people can live, work, relax, and feel at home.

To better serve, I’ve taken advantage of opportunities to learn about our town’s history, government, and operations. I completed both the Huntersville 101 program and the Citizens Police Academy, which gave me a deeper understanding of how town departments function and how current issues impact our community. I’ve also served as Vice Chairman of the Ordinance Advisory Board, reviewing and recommending updates to zoning and subdivision ordinances, and as a volunteer with the Huntersville Police Department.

I was honored to be elected Huntersville Town Commissioner, serving from 2017–2021 and again from 2023–2025, working hard to be a voice for all our residents. In this role, I’ve also served with a wide range of community, town and regional organizations, including:

  • Huntersville Regional Chamber of Commerce
  • Visit Lake Norman Board
  • Centralina Regional Council
  • Greenways, Trails & Bikeway Commission
  • Parks & Recreation Commission
  • Public Art Commission
  • Planning Coordinating Committee
  • Huntersville Police Liaison & Communications Liaison
  • Charlotte Area Regional Transportation Organization (CRTPO)
  • North Carolina Power Agency #1 (ElectriCities)
  • Affordable Housing Committee

Before public service, I retired from a successful career in technology sales, holding multiple management roles. Much of my work involved partnering with businesses and executives to develop win-win solutions that balanced client needs, contracts, and long-term goals. I bring that same mindset to the Town Board — working toward practical, collaborative solutions that make Huntersville a great place to live, work, and visit.
