ONE TOWN ONE TEAM
Hope everyone is enjoying the summer!
I am announcing my reelection run for the Huntersville Board of Commissioners.
You may hear Commissioners tell you what they have done for the town. The truth is, it takes a team to get your goals accomplished. It’s all about working collaboratively in the spirit of compromise to achieve outcomes. Our town employees are awesome and they get all the credit for the execution of boards directives.
Downtown Huntersville is finally happening (details below). One item that I have been passionate about since I began running for office was the revitalization of our downtown. Other than a few municipal buildings, not much has been built there in the 28 years that I have called Huntersville my home.
Another passion of mine is our greenways and parks. Quality of life is in part defined by how you can get out and enjoy mother nature. I voted to support new greenways and the expansion of our park system (see below).
In addition to greenways, sidewalks are an integral part of our transportation system. See below for my support of the new budget that included four new positions to build/maintain our sidewalks throughout town.
It’s been a busy couple of years! The items below reflect what Team Huntersville has done for you!
MASTER PLANS (blueprints for our future)
- Huntersville 2040 Community Plan
- Huntersville 2030 Comprehensive Parks, Recreation + Open Space Master Plan
- Huntersville Bicycle Master Plan
DOWNTOWN IS ON THE MOVE
- New mixed-use development next to Town Center (commercial & residential)
- New Brewery in the old Blythe Building
- Vermillion Village mixed-use redevelopment project on the old Anchor Mills site
- New Town Hall
- New Trail Head for The Vine (name of our Greenway System)
GREENWAYS
The town is investing millions of dollars to accelerate an expansion of the greenway system within Huntersville. We are collaborating with Mecklenburg County to prioritize projects within Huntersville. The latest agreements will bring more than 6 ½ of new greenways miles to Huntersville.
PARKS
The Rosedale Nature Park is under construction. It is scheduled to open in the fall. The park will include along with other amenities, Huntersville’s first Dog Park (separate big dog and small dog areas).
WALKABLE COMMUNITY
The newly approved budget includes a new team of four to work on sidewalks. That means building new ones and fixing old ones.
ROAD PROJECTS
The Main Street Project finally underway. Many other smaller road projects are happening to help make it easier to get around Huntersville.
There is so much more to be done. I would appreciate your vote this coming fall!
